Sandra Lee, First Girlfriend, Creates Stir at NY Open House for Cuomo
Celebrity Food-Network-Star, Sandra Lee, joined new New York Governor, Andrew Cuomo, to greet guests at the governor's traditional open house on New Years Day. Lee is the Governor's gal-pal, according to celebrity gossip.
Reporters, who were not allowed inside to view the actual event, reported that invited guests seemed more wowed by Lee than the governor. This reporting was based on chasing departing guests down the governor's mansion driveway and thrusting microphones in their faces and asking questions like, "Who wowwed you more, Sandra Lee or somebody else?"
According to these second hand observations, Sandra Lee was kind and gracious, even going so far as to introduce herself as "Sandy". Contrary to unpublished reports, she did not refer to those attending as the "little people" or "more mobs of my fans" but stood by the Governor's side looking pleasant and taking in her stride the hoards trying to press her flesh.
Lee would seem to be one of those fortunate people who knew what she wanted to do with her life from early on. The story goes that, at birth, she cleverly got herself named Sandra Lee so she would sound like the popular dessert brand Sara Lee. Obviously she knew then that someday she'd want to become a food celebrity, when having a "sounds-like" name would provide instant recognition and credibility.
Although in past years, other governors have invited and greeted thousands of people, Cuomo limited the guest list to 300 people.
Many of the invitees were apparently not political figures but just ordinary folk. They were pleased to be invited but at least some appeared slightly confused.
One school teacher racing down the driveway, high heels in hand, was making a desperate attempt to escape reporters when she was heard asking her companion, "Ok, tell me again. Who was that guy Andrew standing next to Sara Lee?"
